I think it's the stigmatization of sex workers. They're seen as unclean and addicted to drugs to deter people (men) from seeking their services. Prostitution ("the world's oldest profession) is widely seen and discussed as a threat to marriage and monogamy, whereas pornography has been abstractly theorized as a cause in very modern problems: addiction to porn/masturbation/sex. I suppose pornography doesn't pose the same sort of immediate threat.


I guess I just don’t understand why the existence of sexual intercourse outside of a marriage is such a threat anyway.  But…the same can be said for the contraception argument, I suppose.
