Sex Work

So, I’m not well-read on this subject.  At all, really.  But I want to be.  And here’s why:

We look at porn stars and think “damn, I bet they make a lot of money.”  Then we look at your average sex worker and think “That person is disgusting and not worthy of my attention.”

Both make a living having sex with random people.  So why is one so reprehensible while the other is deified?  Both are a legitimate means of earning a living, so what’s the deal?
